Chen Yu-jen, the Kuomintang legislator for Kinmen and sole KMT nominee, holds overwhelming trader consensus due to the party's unified backing in a locality with deep historical KMT alignment, her legislative record advocating cross-strait economic ties and local development priorities such as long-term care and smart infrastructure, and the absence of a competitive DPP contender. Candidate registration opens only on August 31, leaving limited time for challengers to consolidate support ahead of the November 28 vote. Independent contenders including former vice magistrate Li Wen-liang, ex-magistrate Yang Cheng-wu, and academic Liang Wen-tao remain fragmented with minimal polling traction, reflecting structural barriers such as the incumbent's disqualification under anti-corruption rules and the county's small electorate. No major shifts have altered this positioning in recent weeks.
