Chung Tung-chin, the incumbent Miaoli County magistrate elected as an independent in 2022, holds an 88.5% implied probability in the market, driven by his strong recent polling performance and governance record ahead of Taiwan’s November 28, 2026 local elections. A June 2026 China Times survey awarded him the Silver Award among county magistrates outside major cities, citing satisfaction ratings above 80% across policy areas. The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) formally nominated Chen Pin-an as its challenger in late November 2025, yet the market assigns Chen only a 5% share, consistent with the incumbent’s established position and limited reported shifts in voter sentiment. Multiple other listed candidates remain at 50% amid the early stage of candidate registration and coalition dynamics typical in county races. Traders appear to price in continuity based on Chung’s incumbency advantages and measurable public approval metrics rather than unconfirmed campaign developments.
