Chou Chun-mi, the Democratic Progressive Party incumbent magistrate of Pingtung County since her narrow 2022 victory over Kuomintang challenger Su Ching-chuan, holds the dominant market position ahead of the November 28, 2026 local elections. Incumbency advantages, including established administrative record, party organizational resources, and voter familiarity, underpin the wide implied probability gap. KMT actions in late 2025, including formal backing for Su’s rematch bid as part of broader southern Taiwan nominations, have not narrowed the spread. No major candidate filings, polling shifts, or disruptive events have altered the field in the past several months, leaving traders to price in structural continuity over potential late-cycle variables such as turnout patterns or coalition dynamics.
