Incumbent Steve Scalise holds a commanding position in Louisiana’s 1st congressional district jungle primary on November 3, 2026, following his 66.8 percent victory in 2024. The field remains limited to Scalise and a Republican primary challenger, a single Democratic candidate, and one independent, with qualifying concluded in mid-August. No polling or filing developments have emerged to indicate meaningful vote fragmentation among Republican-leaning voters. Historical results and the district’s partisan composition support expectations that one candidate—most likely Scalise—will surpass the 50 percent threshold required to win outright and avoid a December runoff. Trader consensus at 93 percent for an outright winner reflects these structural and candidate dynamics.
