Provisional results from Benin's National Autonomous Electoral Commission (CENA) show Finance Minister Romuald Wadagni securing over 94% of votes in the April 12 presidential election, driving trader consensus to 98.4% implied probability for him as next president following outgoing leader Patrice Talon's endorsement and prior parliamentary dominance by pro-government forces. Sole opposition candidate Paul Hounkpè, representing the Cowry Forces for an Emerging Benin (FCBE), conceded defeat on April 13 amid 58-59% voter turnout, with no major disputes reported. Official certification remains pending, but challenges would require substantiated legal appeals or irregularities; absent such developments, markets anticipate swift resolution to Wadagni's landslide victory.
