State Sens. Josh McLaurin and Greg Dolezal advanced from June 2026 primary runoffs to contest an open lieutenant governor seat in Georgia, with McLaurin holding a modest edge in trader pricing and recent polling. McLaurin’s Democratic nomination followed a runoff victory emphasizing cost-of-living issues, while Dolezal secured the Republican nod on platforms including school choice and election integrity. The race remains closely balanced because both nominees lack broad statewide profiles, a large share of voters remain undecided, and Georgia’s partisan environment produces narrow margins in down-ballot contests. Upcoming campaign spending, candidate debates, and alignment with the concurrent gubernatorial race could widen the gap before November 3.
