Republican incumbent Brandon Gill secured the nomination in the March 2026 primary and faces Democrat Steven Shook in the November general election for Texas's 26th congressional district. The seat carries a strong Republican lean, reflected in historical voting patterns and a partisan voting index favoring the GOP by double digits. Forecasts from nonpartisan analysts rate the contest as solidly Republican, projecting margins around 20 points based on district fundamentals and prior election results. Primaries concluded without significant surprises or shifts in candidate strength, and no major developments have altered the competitive landscape in recent months. Trader consensus in prediction markets aligns with these structural advantages, assigning the Republican Party the large majority of implied probability for the outcome.
