Recent August data showing monthly inflation easing to 1.7%—its lowest level in 14 months—has reinforced trader focus on Argentina’s ongoing disinflation under the Milei administration’s fiscal surplus and managed exchange-rate framework. Year-to-date prices have risen 21.3% while the 12-month rate stands at 33.5%, aligning with Central Bank REM survey expectations of roughly 30% for full-year 2026 and private forecasts clustered between 29% and 30.5%. The near-even split between the 25–29.9% and 30–34.9% bins reflects uncertainty over whether residual energy-price pressures and relative-price adjustments will push the outcome above or below the 30% threshold by year-end, with upcoming monthly prints and any shifts in monetary policy or global commodity conditions serving as key swing factors.
