Recent National Weather Service and private model guidance for Austin on September 3 centers on highs of 96–97°F under partly cloudy skies with a 30–50% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms tied to moisture from Tropical Storm Edouard’s remnants. South winds of 5–10 mph and elevated humidity will support heat indices near 105°F, but increased cloud cover and scattered convection are expected to limit peak readings below the 98–100°F values observed earlier in the week. This aligns with the early-September climatological average high of 93.9°F while reflecting the slight cooling influence of the tropical moisture plume. The market’s heaviest weighting on the 96–97°F bin, followed by 94–95°F and 98–99°F, mirrors this narrow forecast consensus and the modest uncertainty around exact storm timing and coverage.
