**Recent National Weather Service and private model guidance points to a high near 91–92°F for Houston on September 17, with a 40–50% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms.** Persistent easterly flow, high moisture content, and increasing afternoon cloud cover are the main variables that could trim peak temperatures by 1–3°F if convection develops earlier or is more widespread than currently expected. Historical September climatology shows typical highs around 90°F, but the current pattern features slightly above-normal warmth tempered by the storm risk. Market-implied odds cluster tightly around 88–91°F because traders are balancing the official forecast high against the uncertainty in convective timing and coverage; a clearer, sunnier day would favor the upper end of that range while earlier or heavier storms would push readings toward the lower bins. Updated NWS short-range guidance and high-resolution model runs expected overnight will likely refine these probabilities ahead of the daily maximum.
