**Official National Weather Service observations recorded a maximum of 82°F in downtown Los Angeles on September 15, 2026, directly supporting the market's near-certain 80-81°F outcome.** This reading fell just above the 1991-2020 normal high of 83°F for the date and aligned with real-time model guidance and surface observations showing moderate onshore flow and limited daytime heating under partly cloudy skies. Historical September highs average around 76°F, with extremes driven by Santa Ana winds or strong high pressure rarely exceeding 100°F this late in the season. Minor station-to-station variations or timing of the peak reading represent the only realistic paths to a different bin, though NWS climatological reports provide the authoritative resolution data.
