Recent National Weather Service and model guidance points to increasing cloud cover and a 20-30% chance of showers or thunderstorms on September 17 as an easterly flow replaces southerly winds, limiting afternoon heating and producing the market's tight clustering around 94-99°F. This setup contrasts with the hotter, sunnier conditions of the prior two days that reached 98-101°F. Historical averages near 91°F provide baseline context, yet 2023-2025 Septembers ran several degrees warmer. Resolution hinges on the precise timing and coverage of midday clouds per official Austin-Bergstrom observations, with the next model runs and NWS updates likely to sharpen the distribution across the leading bins.
