Recent National Weather Service and model guidance indicate a warm, humid air mass with southwest flow ahead of a weak frontal system, supporting daytime highs near 80–84°F for New York City on September 13 despite widespread rain and cloud cover. Persistent precipitation and thick overcast conditions are the main factors capping temperatures below seasonal extremes, while variable timing of heaviest rain and any partial clearing could allow brief warming into the mid-80s or suppress readings into the mid-70s. Historical averages around 77–78°F provide context, but current model spread on moisture advection and cloud persistence creates the observed market distribution across bins from 73°F or below through the low 90s, with trader consensus centering on the 78–83°F range amid genuine forecast uncertainty two days out.
