Persistent summer heat and high humidity continue to dominate Houston's overnight lows ahead of September 2, with most short-range models and agency guidance showing minimum temperatures in the upper 70s°F to low 80s°F. A strong upper-level ridge maintains southerly flow and suppresses widespread cooling, while scattered showers and thunderstorms—favored by 50%+ rain probabilities—add cloud cover that can limit radiational cooling and raise dew points. El Niño-related shifts in the jet stream remain too distant to alter early-September patterns meaningfully. Model spreads in boundary-layer moisture and exact storm timing create the balanced market pricing across bins, as even modest changes in overnight cloud cover or wind could shift the low by several degrees within the 71–85°F range.
