Former President Rumen Radev leads trader consensus at 88.8% implied probability to become Bulgaria's next prime minister following the April 19 snap parliamentary election, driven by polls showing his newly formed Progressive Bulgaria alliance ahead at around 30% amid ongoing political instability and public frustration with corruption and repeated government failures. Radev resigned the presidency in January 2026 to launch the coalition, capitalizing on his popularity after seven elections in five years under proportional representation, where no party typically secures a majority and coalitions prove elusive. Current caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov holds 5.4% amid his pro-Western caretaker government's reaffirmation of EU alignment, while Boyko Borissov of GERB trails at 3.1% due to past coalition breakdowns. Post-election mandate negotiations and potential kingmaker roles could still shift outcomes despite Radev's frontrunner status.
