The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports the most recent magnitude 7.0 or greater earthquake—a M7.4 event 126 km west-northwest of Ternate, Indonesia, in the Molucca Sea—struck on April 1, 2026, at a shallow depth of 35 km along a tectonic interface, followed by a M7.3 near Vanuatu on March 30. Globally, USGS data indicate about 15 such events annually, roughly one every 2–3 weeks, driven by plate boundary stresses with inherent short-term unpredictability due to complex fault dynamics. No M7+ quakes have occurred in the past 15 days amid typical seismic variability. Traders should track USGS real-time global monitoring for emerging activity; resolution depends on any confirmed M7.0+ per USGS moment magnitude scale before the market deadline, with no scheduled data releases but continuous seismic network updates.

The resolution source for this market is the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Earthquake Hazards Program (https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/browse/significant.php#sigdef).
If an earthquake of substantial size has occurred within this market's timeframe but not yet appeared on the resolution source, this market may remain open until the end of the month following resolution time or until the earthquake in question otherwise appears on the resolution source. If such an earthquake has not appeared on the resolution source by that date, another credible resolution source will be used.
After a qualifying earthquake is registered, this market will remain open for 24 hours to account for any revisions to its recorded magnitude. After 24 hours, this market will resolve according to the latest provided data.
