Recent forecast model runs from MetService and international sources point to overnight lows in Wellington on September 15 settling between 8–11 °C under partly cloudy skies and moderate northerly winds. This range keeps the 9 °C and 10 °C outcomes nearly tied at 31–32.5 % because small differences in cloud cover timing or wind-driven mixing can shift the exact minimum by 1 °C. Historical September averages near 9.6 °C provide a climatological anchor, while current high pressure and limited moisture reduce the chance of colder radiational cooling that would favor 7 °C or below. Updated model guidance and official minimum readings expected after midnight will determine final resolution.
