Recent energy price pressures stemming from Middle East developments have lifted UK CPI to 2.9% in July 2026 from 2.6% in June, with the Bank of England projecting a peak near 3.2% in 2026 Q4 before easing. The MPC held Bank Rate at 3.75% in July amid concerns over second-round effects, while forward curves price limited further tightening. These dynamics create closely matched trader sentiment, with the 3.5–3.9% annual average range edging the 2.0–2.4% band as participants weigh persistent energy contributions against potential moderation from slack in the economy and fading base effects. Upcoming August CPI data and the September MPC meeting represent key near-term catalysts that could shift implied probabilities.
