Recent National Weather Service and model guidance for Houston indicates a shift toward increased cloud cover and thunderstorm activity on September 1, with 60-70% rain chances in the afternoon that are expected to cap daytime heating compared to the upper-90s readings of late August. This convective regime, driven by typical late-summer moisture and sea-breeze interactions, favors a highest temperature in the upper 80s to low 90s rather than continued extreme heat. Ensemble spreads and historical analogs for early September, when average highs reach about 91-92°F, underscore the sensitivity of peak readings to the precise timing and coverage of storms, keeping the 86-91°F range dominant in trader positioning while leaving room for revision with the next model cycle.
