The Jean-Lesage riding in Quebec City features a close contest between incumbent Sol Zanetti of Québec solidaire and Claude Villeneuve of the Parti québécois, with both near 45-50% implied probability amid dozens of lower-priced alternatives. Villeneuve’s late-August nomination as a former municipal leader and PQ communications director has positioned the sovereigntist challenger directly against the sitting MNA in a riding that flipped narrowly to QS in 2022 and projects as a toss-up on current vote models. Provincial polling showing the PQ and CAQ nearly tied, combined with the October 5 general election timeline and ongoing nomination period ending September 17, sustains uncertainty over final turnout and any late shifts in Capital-Nationale support. Further candidate visibility, riding-specific polling, or broader party momentum could widen the gap before election day.
