Trader consensus on Polymarket heavily favors Romuald Wadagni at 69% implied probability as Benin's next president, driven by his role as finance minister and status as incumbent Patrice Talon's preferred successor ahead of the April 2026 election. Wadagni's economic stewardship, including debt reduction and growth initiatives, bolsters his position amid Talon's term limits. Paul Hounkpè, the current prime minister, trails at 41% as a strong alternative continuity candidate from the ruling Union Progressiste bloc. Recent 2024 legislative elections solidified the bloc's dominance, curtailing opposition viability through stringent candidacy rules, while no major polls contradict this establishment tilt—though candidate announcements or primaries could prompt shifts.
