This market will resolve to "Yes" if China commences a military offensive intended to establish control over any portion of the Republic of China (Taiwan) by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Territory under the administration of the Republic of China, including any inhabited islands, will qualify; however, uninhabited islands will not qualify. The resolution source for this market will be official confirmation by China, Taiwan, the United Nations, or any permanent member of the UN Security Council; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.Beijing's sustained preference for gray-zone coercion, including China Coast Guard patrols east of Taiwan and exercises simulating blockade or quarantine operations, combined with acknowledged shortfalls in amphibious lift and joint command experience, underpins the 93% implied probability against an invasion by June 30, 2027. Taiwan has accelerated asymmetric capabilities through supplementary drone and missile budgets plus live-fire drills, while U.S.-Taiwan arms packages continue amid warnings over potential impacts on a planned Trump-Xi summit. Analysts note that Beijing appears focused on incremental erosion of Taiwan's position and long-term readiness gains projected into the 2030s rather than near-term kinetic action, with no verified indicators of imminent large-scale mobilization. Late diplomatic or military shifts could still alter trajectories before the resolution date.
