San Francisco's coastal marine layer and prevailing westerly winds typically moderate overnight lows to the mid-50s°F in late August, aligning with the 1991–2020 normal of 56°F for the date. Official forecasts for August 29, 2026, indicate highs in the mid-60s under sunny conditions transitioning to partly cloudy skies overnight, with lows settling near 55°F amid 10–20 mph winds that limit radiational cooling. This setup produces high market-implied odds for a 56–57°F minimum, while the low probability assigned to 49°F or below reflects the unlikelihood of stronger onshore flow or unusual clearing that would allow deeper cooling. Recent model consensus shows minimal deviation from climatology, supporting trader focus on the narrow 56–57°F range.
