A recent frontal passage has ushered in cool northerly winds at 10-15 mph, partial cloud cover reducing insolation, and shallow boundary layer mixing, capping peak temperatures in the mid-50s. The razor-thin split between 54-55°F (31.5%) and 56-57°F (29.5%) stems from model disagreements on afternoon clearing and low-level warm air advection—ECMWF slightly warmer, GFS cooler.
