**Florida's 2026 attorney general race features incumbent Republican James Uthmeier, appointed in early 2025 by Gov. Ron DeSantis, against Democrat José Javier Rodríguez, a former state senator and Biden administration official.** Both candidates advanced unopposed after the August 18 primaries when potential challengers failed to qualify. Uthmeier holds a substantial fundraising edge, exceeding $10 million compared to Rodríguez's roughly $1.5 million, while benefiting from Florida's Republican voter registration advantage and endorsements from figures including President Trump and numerous sheriffs. Recent polling has shown variability, with some surveys indicating a closer contest amid scrutiny over past administration matters such as the Hope Florida settlement. The November 3 general election remains the resolution trigger, with trader consensus reflecting the state's partisan leanings and Uthmeier's institutional position.
