Both state senators Josh McLaurin and Greg Dolezal secured their party nominations in June runoffs for the open-seat 2026 Georgia lieutenant governor race, creating a closely contested general election on November 3. Recent July polling showed McLaurin holding slim leads of 4–5 points in head-to-head matchups, reflecting Georgia’s competitive electoral environment and the candidates’ comparable legislative profiles. McLaurin emphasizes expanding Medicaid access and cost-of-living measures, while Dolezal focuses on tax reform, school choice, and election integrity. Limited additional polling since the primaries, combined with the state’s history of narrow statewide margins, sustains tight trader pricing around 45–52% implied probabilities for each nominee. Key upcoming factors include any fall debates, fundraising reports, and alignment with the concurrent gubernatorial contest.
