Incumbent Republican Brenna Bird holds a modest lead in trader pricing for the November 2026 Iowa Attorney General race, supported by her narrow 2022 victory in a Republican-leaning state and substantial cash reserves exceeding $6.8 million after national party backing. Democrat Nate Willems, the uncontested primary winner, has narrowed gaps in early 2026 polling that showed the contest within a few points, aided by $1.5 million from the Democratic Attorneys General Association and recent campaign finance momentum. A late August appearance at the Iowa State Fair highlighted policy differences on wage theft enforcement and office priorities, underscoring the competitive dynamics without shifting established positioning. Both candidates face an election roughly two months away where turnout patterns and any late issue focus could influence the final margin.
