Incumbent Republican Hal Rogers secured the GOP nomination for Kentucky’s 5th Congressional District with 77 percent in the May 2026 primary, advancing against unopposed Democrat Ned Pillersdorf for the November general election. The eastern Kentucky district’s consistent Republican voting patterns, combined with Rogers’ decades-long tenure since 1981 and repeated large reelection margins, anchor trader consensus around a 93.5 percent Republican outcome. Minimal Democratic organizational presence and the absence of recent competitive polling further support this positioning. Late developments such as a sharp national partisan shift, health issues for the 88-year-old Rogers, or unexpectedly strong Democratic turnout could still narrow the margin in this low-profile contest.
