Texas's 22nd congressional district maintains a clear Republican tilt, reflected in the 2024 general election results where the incumbent secured over 62 percent of the vote and in post-redistricting maps that preserved its suburban and rural conservative base. Incumbent Troy Nehls's retirement opened the seat, but his twin brother Trever Nehls captured the Republican nomination outright in the March 2026 primary with roughly 76 percent, positioning the party nominee for a strong general-election path. Democratic nominee Marquette Greene-Scott emerged from her primary but confronts the district's established voting patterns and midterm dynamics that historically favor Republican retention ahead of the November 3 contest.

A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
