Texas's 22nd congressional district, an open seat after incumbent Republican Troy Nehls declined to seek reelection, strongly favors the Republican nominee due to its established partisan lean. The district delivered roughly 60 percent support for Republican presidential and Senate candidates in 2024 and carries a Solid Republican rating from nonpartisan analysts. Republican primary voters selected Trever Nehls, the retiring incumbent's brother, by a wide margin in March. Democratic nominee Marquette Greene-Scott secured her party's nomination but confronts structural disadvantages in a diverse suburban Houston-area seat. No major developments have altered the race since the primaries concluded, leaving the general election contest on November 3, 2026, positioned as a low-uncertainty outcome for Republican control.
