Republican Michael Baumgartner, the incumbent who won the seat in 2024 following Cathy McMorris Rodgers's retirement, advanced from Washington's August 4, 2026 top-two primary with roughly 47 percent, ahead of Democrat Carmela Conroy at 20 percent. The eastern Washington district has long favored Republicans in House races, reflected in its Safe Republican rating from the Cook Political Report and Baumgartner's prior 60 percent general-election margin. Recent polling shows the incumbent leading Conroy by six points in head-to-head matchups. These factors have produced trader consensus around a Republican victory in the November 3 general election, with limited signs of shifting momentum in the short resolution window.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
