Incumbent Republican Jeff Van Drew's strong position in New Jersey's 2nd Congressional District, rated Solid Republican by Cook Political Report with a partisan voting index of R+5 and Trump carrying it by 13 points in 2024, drives trader consensus at 73.5% for the Republican Party ahead of the November 3 general election. Van Drew, unopposed in the June 2 Republican primary and boasting over $1.3 million cash on hand, won reelection in 2024 with 58% despite facing Democratic challengers. Recent Democratic primary filings feature a crowded field—Tim Alexander, Zack Mullock, Terri Reese, and Bayly Winder—lacking a clear frontrunner and trailing in fundraising, though national GOP headwinds like low Trump approval in New Jersey and local backlash over an AI data center have sparked talk of vulnerability without shifting ratings.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
