The Quebec provincial election for the Richmond riding, scheduled for October 5, 2026, features a crowded field of candidates from the CAQ (Guillaume Rousseau), PLQ (Hugo Fontaine), PQ (Bernard Sévigny), QS (David Poulin-Latulippe), and PCQ (Dominic Bouffard). The race remains tightly contested because the open seat—following the retirement of the prior CAQ MNA—aligns with broader provincial polling volatility, local priorities such as housing affordability and youth engagement in a mixed urban-rural Estrie district, and comparable vote-share projections across the leading parties. Recent candidate announcements and the late-August writ have not produced decisive momentum for any contender. Developments that could separate outcomes include targeted campaign events, shifts in provincial party standings, or stronger turnout among specific voter groups in the final weeks before the first-past-the-post result determines the winner.
