**Trader sentiment for Chicago's highest temperature on August 29, 2026, centers on the 80–83°F range (roughly 75% combined probability), reflecting a seasonable but cloud-limited day rather than any strong warming trend.** Official National Weather Service forecasts and multiple models converged on a high near 80–81°F under mostly cloudy skies, with southwest winds of 5–10 mph and a slight late-day shower chance. These conditions reduce surface heating compared with clearer days: thick mid-level overcast limits incoming solar radiation, while modest winds promote mixing without strong advection of warmer air. Dew points in the mid-60s add humidity that can further moderate daytime peaks through evaporative cooling if any light precipitation develops. Recent upstream developments—a decaying disturbance crossing the mid-Mississippi Valley—brought the increased cloud cover that has kept temperatures a few degrees below recent sunnier periods. Historical context shows an average August 29 high of ~81°F, so current conditions align closely with climatology but with reduced variance from persistent clouds. With leading bins (80–81°F and 82–83°F) nearly tied, traders appear focused on short-term observational updates and model adjustments for exact peak timing, as even modest clearing or delayed showers could shift the maximum by 1–2°F.
