Current National Weather Service and model guidance points to a Chicago high in the upper 80s on August 30, supported by southerly winds of 10–15 mph advecting warmer air and partly cloudy skies that allow sufficient solar heating after morning cloud cover. The tight market split between the 84–85°F and 86–87°F bins reflects uncertainty in exact cloud timing, wind gust strength, and urban heat-island effects at official reporting stations. Historical averages near 81°F and recent August maxima in the mid-80s provide context, while any faster clearing or stronger southerly flow could push readings into the higher bin before resolution.
