Following an exceptional early April heatwave peaking above 26°C, cooler southwesterly Atlantic air masses have moderated recent highs to 14°C on April 12-13, with model ensembles like ECMWF and GFS showing slight divergence due to variable cloud cover and shower timing that could enhance insolation for 17°C or limit it to 15°C via increased albedo. Key differentiators include afternoon frontal boundary positioning and boundary layer mixing; monitor Met Office hourly updates and evening model runs for shifts ahead of the 2-4pm peak heating window.
