Florida's 5th congressional district maintains a strong Republican tilt under the current map, with nonpartisan analysts rating the race solid or safe Republican ahead of the November 2026 general election. Incumbent John Rutherford faces primary challengers in the August 18 Republican primary but holds the advantages of name recognition and district alignment. Multiple Democrats are competing in their party's August primary for the general election nomination, yet the seat's partisan voting index and historical results position a Republican nominee as the clear frontrunner in trader consensus. No major developments in recent weeks have altered the competitive landscape.
