The Illinois 7th Congressional District’s strong Democratic lean, reflected in a Cook Partisan Voter Index of D+34 and consistent large margins such as Kamala Harris’s 36.5-point 2024 presidential win, underpins trader consensus favoring the Democratic nominee at 96.7%. Longtime incumbent Danny Davis’s retirement opened the seat, but La Shawn Ford secured the Democratic nomination in the March 17, 2026 primary with 23.7% in a crowded field, backed by Davis’s endorsement. Chad Koppie advanced as the Republican nominee after his primary win. Nonpartisan ratings from Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball classify the race as solid or safe Democratic. Late developments such as candidate scandals, health events, or abrupt national political shifts remain the primary factors that could narrow the gap before the November 3 general election.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
